hand blown glass, blown glass I am a collector of beautiful hand blown paperweights and I found this unusual one online today. The product description said it might be Murano hand blown glass which it might be but I'm buying it regardless of its being Murano or not. I just think it's gorgeous and the pear shape is one I've never seen in a paperweight before. I have an entire section of a bookcase in our bedroom just full of these hand blown paperweights and I think that this one would be a good contrast with the others.

I started collecting paperweights years ago when I bought one for my newborn niece in Troy, Michigan, when I was there on a business trip. I used to travel to different cities a lot for my consulting practice and to relax and kill some time between appointments, I would wander the stores. Troy in particular had some impressive shopping and I found a gorgeous hand blown glass paperweight that looked like a replica of the universe, so I bought it.

That started my love of hand blown glass and I've been buying it ever since. Now, however, I buy it online where I don't have to pound the home section of the department stores. It's also easy to find it in art museum shops, but we hardly ever go to them, so buying them online now is the way to go. My cousin got me hooked on buying things online so now it's an activity I do without thinking. I can find so much more online, so when I take the time to go shopping online, it's a much more productive activity than shopping locally or when we're on vacation. My sister is coming in this week for a week's vacation from a small town in New Mexico and I told her that I'd look after her dog if she wanted to go shopping at the mall, but that I didn't need anything I couldn't get online. She was good with that, and while she's shopping in retail stores, her doggie and I will be having a good time basking in the sunshine by the pool, I shopping on my laptop and the dog catching a few extra winks of sleep laying in the warm sunshine.
