My aunt was a big time collector of blown glass vases. She displayed them all over her house. No matter what room you entered you found blown glass vases. She had any color you could think of and numerous shapes and sizes of vases. In the center of her kitchen and dining room tables there always could be found a blown glass vase filled with fresh cut seasonal flowers. The vases were seasonal as well.
My aunt never tired of collecting blown glass vases on her own or receiving them as gifts. She often said: "You can never have enough blown glass vases!" It sure made her easy to buy gifts for and she always found the space to place a new blown glass vase. That is why she was surrounded by the beauty and brilliance of these vases.
When my aunt passed away the family gathered at her home. She never had any children of her own. Throughout the years she had talked to all of us about certain blown glass vases that she wanted us to have in the event of her passing. It was not a sad subject, just part of life. My aunt wanted to make sure that each of us got our favorite vases and then some.
Today, I display these special blown glass vases in my living room. The sun hits them every afternoon with a warm glow. As I look at them I have fond memories of my aunt. I know that was exactly her intention with the gift of those blown glass vases!
