majolica

The classic beauty of majolica ceramic vases is something to behold. The brilliant colors and artistry of majolica vases is not matched anywhere. I feel blessed to have two vases on display in my living room. I hope to one day be able to add to my majolica collection.

If you would like to see what I am writing about simply sign on to one the websites offering the background on the artist and his craft. The artist started working in this medium in 1959. Today he and his son are making the majolica pieces. Together they have done research on ceramic glazes and colors to perfection. The figures and designs on majolica pieces are classic. The artists use only three glaze colors: blue, dark green and bright orange. However the different combinations and gradations of those three colors gives the illusion of the use more color on their pieces. I find that interesting.

Majolica ceramic pieces can be ordered through the websites. There are many different choices. My recent admiration goes to a vase that has a flared base and globe shaped body with two opposite vertical handles. I really like this piece and hope to add it to my majolica collection very soon.
