hand blown glass, blown glassYesterday when I was watching Antique's Roadshow, they did a segment on hand blown glass and glass paperweights. I just love both, and find the whole process of making hand blown glass intriguing. I'd love to be able to learn how some day, and begin to understand the artistry that goes into making such works of art. Years ago a friend of mine went to Europe and brought back two glass paperweights for me and I was just thrilled to get them. They rest prominently on a shelf in my living room. When my niece was born, I gave her a hand blown glass paperweight that she still has, and after her brother was born, gave him one, too, so both of them would have something beautiful of their very own as they go through their lives. I chose the most beautiful ones I could find because I wanted them to have something to remind them of the value of their lives and how rich and beautiful their lives can become, just like the glass artists who made their unique hand blown glass paperweights.
