If you ever tour my grandmother’s house you will find some of the most beautiful blown glass ornaments in almost every single room. From the time I was a small child, I can remember my grandmother being completely obsessed with blown glass ornaments and sitting down in the big chair she had in the living room just to admire the gorgeous works of glass she had collected. I remember this one Christmas, my grandfather had gone to a special blown glass shop and paid them to make her some custom glass vases. When she opened her Christmas gift, you could see in her smile and eye the image of pure satisfaction. It was so vivid that if someone were to ask how it is that I can tell a person is completely satisfied, I tell them is that I compare their facial expressions to the one my grandmother had that one Christmas morning. To this day my granny still shows off her blown glass collection to everyone that visits as if she lived in an art gallery and, I guess, with all the elegant blown glass ornaments in the house, she might not be that far off. Personally, I think she is totally in love with all the “uhhs” and “ahhs” she gets whenever she takes someone on her blown glass house tour—go granny!
