hand blown, blown glass


Have you ever been in a bead store? To me, it is like entering the proverbial candy shop. I have a love, perhaps even a fetish, for hand blown glass beads. The stores I visit offer every kind of bead made. From wooden, to clay, to gems and hand blown.

I like all beads but am always drawn to the hand blown areas. I have been known to spend hours picking out bead after bead, each one with a promise of being used in a necklace, bracelet or earrings. If you like to dabble in jewelry making at all you will appreciate what I am saying. The colors of hand blown glass beads are extraordinary. When the light hits the beads just so, it is simply a thing of beauty!  

Some hand blown beads receive the royal treatment and are placed in individual zip lock bags. They are then secured in a cubby while waiting for their special moment. When inspiration hits me and I think of that special bead, out it comes! It can be the central point of a necklace or if their are two they could become a wonderful pair of earrings. Did you ever know hand blown beads could be so much fun?
