     We as humans have been looking at the beauty of hand blown glass and blown glass jewelry for hundreds of years. The craftsmanship and time that goes into making such beautiful pieces of art is amazing. Blown glass vases and large art pieces have such depth and detail; it is hard to believe that the object used to be molten and very dangerous to the touch. I was doing a little research online when I came across some Murano glass jewelry. The pieces of jewelry were so beautiful and even looked to be almost alive with color and craftsmanship. Murano blown glass jewelry is imported from Murano, Italy. It is believed that Murano blown glass products originated in 9th century Rome, and were traded with Asian, Muslim and African neighbors.


     The journey that I went on discovering the beginnings of glass blowing and where it all started, was a journey in which I feel satisfied. I feel satisfied in the fact that blown glass jewelry and other glass products are truly works of art, and that the jewelry itself is very beautiful and very intriguing. I also found my wifes anniversary gift. That was worth it by itself.
