hand blown glass, blown glass

If you ever have a chance to visit a hand blown vase factory jump on it! It is something to see. I was able to participate in a tour of a hand blown glass factory when visiting my in laws back East. I spent an entire day going through a walking tour of the factory. I saw the hot molten balls of glass blown into pieces of glassware right before my eyes. The crafters really have a real talent. Some work in teams to create ripples on the ends of the vases. Others apply dabs of molten glass to the outside of a piece to create a complete bubble effect. It is fantastic!

After the hand blown glass factory tour I was led through the area of the hand painters. Wow! Again so much talent. Each piece has a similar design but because they are hand painted none is exactly the same. I like that a lot!

I finally ended up in the gift shop where there were "oops" pieces of hand blown glass available at a discount price. And of course, rows and shelves full of finished and signed pieces. I chose several clear vases of different heights and colors. I knew exactly where I was going to put them when I got home. They now are a pleasant addition to the high window in my living room. Love 'em!
